Sermon: The gift of reason.

In the beginning the world was void. The spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said , "Let there be light". The word, or logos, entered the world and through the word all things were created.
God gave man many gifts. One of these is logic, the gift or ability to sense order and symmetry. The art of logic is called mathematics. Through this gift we may sense a deeper appreciation of Gods' creation.
Another of Gods' gifts is reason, the ability to sense truth. The faculty of reason is given that we may discern truth, logic and beauty. Truth is beauty and beauty truth. The truth is a matter of the relationship between ourselves and God. The emotion, meaning and character we ascribe to the Word. Jesus is the Living Word. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
So the real reason we have these senses of logic, pattern, symmetry, elegance and truth is so that we may receive Gods' True Gift of Beauty.

May the reader and all dear to the be blessed. May the Heavenly host look upon our doings and may Jesus sanctify our steps on the way towards Him. Amen.
